Programmable logic controller (PLC)
PLCs, or programmable logic controllers, are the minds behind automation.
A PLC: What is it?
In essence, a programmable logic controller (PLC) is an industrial computer used to manage production procedures.
It serves as the foundation of automation, managing anything from basic machine functions to intricate production lines.
How does it operate?
Data is inputted into PLCs by switches, sensors, and other input devices. The system’s condition is represented by this data (e.g., temperature, pressure, button press).
Processing: Using a preprogrammed logic sequence, the PLC’s processor analyzes the input data. Actions to be taken are decided upon.
Output: The PLC controls the physical processes by sending commands to devices that are output, such as lights, valves, and motors.
